How Fashion Evolves? The Role of Culture in Evolving Fashion

When it comes to defining the term “fashion” it holds a comprehensive meaning in it. Some say fashion is a sociological condition that prevails in a society while others say it is the ideological statement of a society.
One thing that stands common in describing fashion and that it is reflection of a society’s cultural figure. Culture has always been associated with fashion or you could say it has a strong link and association with fashion trends. As soon as the culture evolves, it evolves fashion trend which is society’s people living and wearing condition.

In 1930s the rich used to wear zoot suits to represent their culture of affluence and luxury. Actually it was abundance that went on in their society so they wore zoot suits to get into their glorious culture. 1940s was the decade of fashion as elegance entered in both men and women clothes. This was the time when war was ended onto people so they preferred wearing full collar suits to represent their desperation for growth and progress. Later 1960s and 1970s period brought comfort in fashion. Working in a sweatshop or in tiring hotel kitchen required people to wear comfortable casual stuff. People wore jeans and t-shirts to remain calm and peaceful in their hectic working hours. Afterwards the casual dress became common as people preferred it in all leisure moments.
The human life history tells that how society evolves, it evolves culture and so as the fashion of its people. The experiences which go through in a society gives definition to what you call the trend of fashion. Actually, it is the life changes and changes in human ideology that gives formation to the trend of fashion. So it could be concluded that fashion is never separate from culture just like culture is never apart from fashion.
